Prospect Park Alliance

Designed and constructed in the mid-1800s by acclaimed landscape architects Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, Prospect Park is one of Brooklyn’s most treasured destinations. The Prospect Park Alliance is a non-profit organization founded in 1987 to restore and maintain the Park after a steady deterioration of its natural areas and structures due to years of budget cuts. Today, Prospect Park is considered one of the premier urban parks in the United States.

The Prospect Park Alliance partners with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation to oversee the day-to-day operations and long-term stewardship of Prospect Park. The Alliance plays a significant role in funding the operating budget that keeps the Park clean, safe and beautiful. The Alliance provides public programming and amenities for the Park, which receives millions of visits each year. It is also responsible for major restoration projects in the Park, from the 1912 Carousel to the recent opening of Lakeside, the most ambitious project in the history of the Park since the Park’s completion nearly 150 years ago.
